The Montreal Port Authority’s international business development team has welcomed a valuable new member: Prakash R. Tulsiani, who now serves as Senior Commercial Advisor representing the Port of Montreal in India. His role is to develop new business opportunities, strengthen relationships with key players in the Indian market and raise the Port of Montreal’s profile.
This on-the-ground presence will help shipping lines, freight forwarders, importers and exporters take full advantage of the opportunities offered by one of the world’s most dynamic markets. In a rapidly evolving trade environment, it will help diversify market opportunities, open new doors for Quebec and Canadian businesses, and strengthen their connections to global markets—contributing to the resilience and vitality of the Canadian economy.
India has long been one of the Port of Montreal’s leading trading partners and remains a rapidly growing strategic market. Key commodities include food products, ceramics and plastics on the import side, as well as forest products and metals on the export side.
With more than 45 years of experience working with multinational corporations and emerging companies—including 16 years in Southeast Asia—Prakash brings extensive expertise in maritime transportation, logistics, infrastructure, and port and airport operations, along with in-depth knowledge of Asian markets and international supply chains.
Prakash’s arrival strengthens the Port of Montreal’s network of representatives and commercial advisors, already active in Europe, the United States and Asia. It reflects the Port’s commitment to maintaining a strong presence in strategic markets, building lasting relationships with key industry players, pursuing new business opportunities, and actively supporting the growth and diversification of international trade through the Port of Montreal.
