Quebec government invests $29.2 million in Groupe Océan for acquisition of a second floating dry dock

The investment supporting a $58.4 million project by the Ocean Group was announced today by Bernard Drainville, the Quebec Minister of the Economy, Innovation and Energy. It will allow Ocean Group to capture new contracts and generate some 40 new jobs.

« Our role is to give our enterprises the means to expand, innovate and to take advantage of the opportunities which present themselves,” Mr. Drainville said in a press release. The new floating dry dock will focus on the maintenance, repair and construction of vessels under 1,000 tonnes.

Jean-Philippe Brunet, Executive VP of Ocean Group, said the acquisition of a second floating dry dock represents an important stage in the development of the Ocean Group and demonstrates its desire to reinforce the long-term Canadian Quebec maritime capacities. Twice the size of an existing floating dry dock, it is slated to enter service in autumn 2026.
