Our winter 2022-2023 edition has special significance with the traditional big feature on the binational Great Lakes/St. Lawrence System coinciding closely with the first post-pandemic « in person” Annual Marine Club dinner in Toronto on January 20.  Not only are cargo and investment trends outlined but the progress of decarbonization.

This issue always profiles a company that makes an exceptional contribution to the evolution of the great continental waterway.  And we are very proud to profile the major iron ore and shipping operations of ArcelorMittal, the world’s top steelmaker, in the vast Côte-Nord region of Quebec.  Highlights include the largest private port in Canada at Port-Cartier, a “robust” railway in a sub-arctic environment, and a unique, remotely-located walled urban complex in North America.  Here, too, decarbonization is a front and centre theme.
