Port Saint John celebrates 10 years with MSC

Port Saint John is in a period of significant growth with container volumes increasing by 52% over the past five years.  This growth was first stimulated in 2012 when MSC, a global leader in transportation and logistics, began calling on Port Saint John. The introduction of this global service was an instrumental step toward the modernization of our container sector, which has been underway over the past decade.
Port Saint John is honouring this milestone by donating to the MSC Foundation which has a mission to utilize MSC’s global reach and unique knowledge of the sea to take immediate action that contributes to protecting and nurturing the blue planet and all its people.
“MSC saw the future of container shipping through Port Saint John and decided to be a leader 10 years ago, connecting us to the world through their extensive network. They have been a regular caller ever since, and we owe them a debt of gratitude for helping us uncover the potential of our port to other critical logistics partners and sharing our vision of a modernized west side container terminal. We truly appreciate their support and loyalty,” said Andrew Dixon, Chief Operating Officer at Port Saint John.
Chris Fournier, Chief Operations Officer, MSC Canada, said: “We are pleased to celebrate this milestone and we would like to thank Port Saint John and our customers for their continued support. This is yet another great example of MSC’s collaborative partnership approach aimed at developing new services and opportunities that allow Canadian businesses to access global markets. We truly value the relationships we have built in this area and are excited about the future of the East Coast, as we remain committed to supporting Canada’s growth”.
“For a decade MSC has been helping shippers to reach global destinations from Port Saint John. I want to congratulate and thank MSC for their ongoing commitment in facilitating the flow of trade,” said Matthew Leech, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Americas Region, DP World. “Their service is helping Canadian exporters to grow their businesses and generate sustainable economic growth for Atlantic Canada and beyond. I look forward to our continued relationship as we work together to provide a strong and stable global supply chain.”
“The Port of Saint John is very fortunate that 10 years ago in 2012 one of the largest container lines in the world, Mediterranean Shipping Company, had the foresight to start calling to Saint John after more than 2 decades of not having a global container line. We thank MSC for helping Saint John to once again be recognized as an international container port and look forward to continuing our partnership in the future,” said Terry Wilson, President of Local 273 International Longshoremen Association.  (Photo Port Saint John)
