Ottawa – The Board of Directors for the Association of Canadian Port Authorities (ACPA) has announced the appointment of Daniel-Robert Gooch as President and CEO. Mr. Gooch will assume his new role February 7, 2022.

Mr. Gooch is no stranger to the transportation sector. Serving as president of the Canadian Airports Council (CAC) since 2011, he oversees operations of the Airports Council International – North America’s Canadian division, leads Canadian government affairs and communications, and coordinates policy and regulatory efforts to effectively advance the Canadian airport industry. Prior to becoming president, he served as the organization’s director of communications and policy.

Daniel has more than 25 years of experience in marketing, public relations and publishing, particularly in the aviation and technology sectors. He’s also worked in marketing and media relations for U.S. and Canadian clients in the financial, healthcare and business-to-business technology sectors. Daniel is a graduate of Concordia University with a degree in political science and history.

“We are very happy to welcome Daniel-Robert Gooch to our team. The skills, expertise and strategic vision for national and international transportation developed by Mr. Gooch over the course of his career will prove highly useful to us at this critical time as the shipping industry, true backbone of the global supply chain, innovates and intensifies the responsible shift of its operations,” said Carl Laberge, Chair of the ACPA Board of Directors.

“Canada’s port authorities play such an important, central role supporting Canadian global trade. ACPA has proven itself to be a powerful and influential advocate for the sector.  I look forward to working with port leadership, government and industry partners to tell the story of Canada’s ports and their contribution to the sustainable, technologically advanced and efficient global supply chain Canada needs to meet our ambitious targets for climate change and sustainable economic growth,” stated Daniel-Robert Gooch, incoming ACPA President and CEO.

The ACPA Board also wishes to acknowledge the work of Acting President Debbie Murray. “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Debbie for her commitment and excellent work as Acting President, making it possible to continue to advance the many important files being developed at ACPA,” added Mr. Laberge.
