Association of Canadian Port Authorities names Ian Marr as Chair

The Association of Canadian Port Authorities (ACPA) has announced the appointment of Ian Marr, CPA, CGA, as Chair of the Board of Directors. Craig Bell Estabrooks, President and CEO of Port Saint John, has been named First Vice Chair.

Ian Marr has served as President and CEO of the Nanaimo Port Authority since 2019, bringing more than three decades of leadership and expertise to Canada’s maritime transportation sector. His career in the port industry began in 1987, where he has held progressive roles across all facets of administration, demonstrating a deep understanding of operational strategy and stakeholder engagement. Ian’s dedication to strengthening Canada’s port system is evident through his active leadership in key industry organizations.

His recent board appointments include serving as Chair and Past Chair of the Association of Pacific Ports; Vice Chair, Director, and Executive Committee Member of the Association of Canadian Port Authorities; and Executive Committee Member and Director/Treasurer of the Nanaimo Prosperity Corporation. These roles reflect Ian’s ongoing commitment to advancing the strategic importance of Canadian ports in national and regional economic development.

In other changes to board composition, Port of Sept-Îles President and CEO Alexandra Chouinard has also joined the ACPA Board of Directors.
