St. Lawrence Ship Operators convened a roundtable discussion on June 3 at the residence of the U.S. Consul General in Québec City, bringing together U.S. Ambassador to Canada Pete Hoekstra and Consul General Anne Dudte. This exclusive meeting, organized in partnership with the U.S. Consulate General in Québec City, brought together senior executives of leading organizations in the marine and shipbuilding industry.
Discussions focused on the challenges, opportunities, and pathways to strengthening commercial relations between Canada and the United States — particularly across the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence Seaway. This binational corridor constitutes the world’s third-largest economic zone and plays a foundational role in trade, supply chains, and the economic competitiveness of both nations.
“This discussion served as an important reminder of the strategic importance of this binational corridor for trade, supply chains, and the economic competitiveness of both our countries,” stated Saul Polo, President and CEO of the St. Lawrence Ship Operators.
The discussions also explored concrete ways to better leverage the St. Lawrence as an economic driver for both countries. Participants shared their long-term vision for marine operators and shipbuilders along the corridor, as well as ideas for deepening binational collaboration to the benefit of both economies.
St. Lawrence Shipoperators’ ongoing commitment
St. Lawrence Ship Operators wishes to thank Ambassador Hoekstra and Consul General Dudte for their engagement and willingness to listen. The Association remains committed to fostering dialogue and collaboration in support of a strong, high-performing marine sector — one that is recognized at its true value by our American partners.
