Ports of Montreal, Quebec and Trois-Rivières contribute $130,000 in combined donations to the IMQ Foundation

Rimouski, QC – The ports of Montreal, Quebec City and Trois-Rivières have joined the list of partners supporting the Institut maritime du Québec (IMQ) Foundation’s major fundraising campaign. Donors in the Expedition category, three Canadian port authorities are making cumulative donations totalling $130,000 as part of the major fundraising campaign.

The IMQ Foundation is delighted with this major financial contribution, which underscores the importance that ports place on training skilled workers in all fields related to maritime transport.

“Maritime stakeholders such as these three port authorities are showing great generosity towards the IMQ Foundation, which supports the mission of the Institut maritime du Québec, a national school. Every donation to the IMQ Foundation has a positive impact on society as a whole,” says Daniel Dion, President of the IMQ Foundation. With these donations, 75% of the major campaign objective has now been reached.

“It’s essential for our three ports to invest in attracting young people to careers in logistics and transport, because their success and the development of a skilled workforce are guarantees of success for the entire maritime industry,” emphasised the CEOs, Gaétan Boivin, Mario Girard and Martin Imbleau.

To date, the Fondation de l’Institut maritime du Québec has raised nearly $1.9 million as part of the 2019-2024 major fundraising campaign, with an overall objective of $2.5 million. The campaign aims to promote maritime careers, raise a scholarship fund and promote research and development as a means of furthering education. The Foundation is proud to create these partnerships for Quebec’s maritime future. To find out more about the campaign, partnership opportunities or to make a donation: fondationimq.ca
