Québec – St. Lawrence Shipoperators (SLS) announced the appointment of Louise Bédard as the organization’s new Executive Director. Ms.  Bédard has succeeded Martin Fournier who recently left the post after eight years at the helm of the organization.

Thanks to her extensive political experience within the Quebec government, Ms. Bédard is a highly skilled manager and strategic advisor. Over the last twenty years, she has held senior posts within a number of political cabinets, including chief of staff, head of research, head of communications and press secretary.

In her new position Ms. Bédard will take the lead on different priority issues for SLS members, such as labour shortage, pilotage and Quebec’s new maritime strategy. Her aptitudes in public and governmental relations will be beneficial for SLS to continue to play a central role in promoting and developing Canadian shipowner activities on the St. Lawrence.
