Eight more companies pledge against shipping through the Arctic

Ocean Conservancy,the Washington-based environmental advocacy group, announced that eight more companies agreed this week not to ship goods through the Arctic Ocean by signing the Arctic Corporate Shipping Pledgelaunched  in October 2019. Citing environmental concerns, the new signatories include Ralph Lauren Corporation, Kuehne + Nagel, PUMA, International Direct Packaging, Allbirds, Aritzia, Hudson Shipping Lines and Bureo.

Sixth consecutive record cargo year announced at Montreal Gold-Headed Cane ceremony

Canada’s second largest port passed a historic milestone of 40 million tonnes of cargo in 2019, it was announced on the occasion of the annual Gold-Headed Cane awarded to the captain of the first ocean-going vessel to reach Montreal without a stopover in the New Year. It was also another record performance for container traffic.
