Termont superintendents at Port of Montreal sign new collective agreement

The 21 superintendents with the Termont terminal at the Port of Montreal have signed a new collective agreement, the Canadian Union of Public Employees announced. The eight-year contract includes wage increases of more than 40 per cent over the life of the agreement.

“Negotiations were exemplary in that both parties didn’t want to lose qualified staff in a labour market severely strained by an acute lack of employees. We sat down, negotiated, and created real solutions,” explained CUPE representative Dominique Aubry.

The talks produced a collective agreement that was modernized and better structured to ensure the sustainability of the local and its members. The agreement also includes access to more weeks of vacation.

“As things currently stand, industrial peace is desirable for everyone involved,” said Mr. Aubry. (Photo Termont)
