Adm. Ossama Rabiee, Chairman and Managing Director of the Suez Canal Authority, has announced that traffic through the Canal on Wednesday Sept. 29th, 2021, marked the highest daily record in the number of transits.
The total was 87 vessels from both directions, without any waiting time inside the waterway, for a total net tonnage of 4.8 million tons. The number of southbound vessels was 38 while 49 vessels were northbound.
His Excellency confirmed the SCA’s readiness to handle all various changes in the global maritime trade after the increase in the capacity of the Canal thanks to the New Suez Canal.
Adm. Rabiee expressed gratitude towards the support of Egyptian President Abdelfattah El-Sisi to the SCA and its future projects that are definitely beneficial for the national economy. (Photo of containership by Suez Canal Authority)
