Houthi rebels threaten 64 global shipowner fleets if they call at Israeli ports via Red Sea

In a new campaign, Yemen’s Houthi rebel group has formally warned 64 global shipowners, without identifying them, that they face being attacked if their vessels call at Israeli ports.

What was described as “pre‑penalty” warnings accused the targeted shipowners of violating a self-proclaimed blockade of Israeli ports, affirming that these fleets are now “prohibited from transiting the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab Strait, Gulf of Aden, and Arabian Sea,” and may be attacked “wherever they fall within reach”.

This announcement comes one month after the sinking of two Greek-operated bulkers, the 36,800-dwt Eternity C and the 63,300-dwt Magic Seas.
