Halifax port employers and ILA reach tentative new collective agreement

The Halifax Employers Association (HEA) and the Council of ILA locals for the Port of Halifax announced they have reached a tentative labour agreement that carries through to December 31, 2025. The current Collective Agreement expired on December 31, 2021.

The details of the tentative agreement will not be released until the agreement has been ratified, the two parties said.

“In keeping with our long tradition of labour stability, the parties worked hard to come to an agreement that would enhance the competitive position of the Port of Halifax by providing increased efficiencies for its customers, while addressing the needs of employees,” said a joint statement. “Both the HEA and the Council of ILA bargaining committees are unanimously recommending to their respective parties that the tentative agreement be ratified.”
