Cacouna, Quebec – Soucy Industriel has unveiled a strategic contract in the shipbuilding sector at a press conference at the Port of Cacouna, amidst dignitaries, partners and stakeholders from across Quebec.
Soucy Industrial has developed over the past few years a specialized expertise for this industry, particularly in the manufacture of modules and components as well as in the repair of large ships. The project presented on June 13 was in response to a call for tenders launched in December 2023 by Groupe Desgagnés for the manufacture of 2 barges of 104 x 44 feet and 3 ramps.
“We would like to thank Desgagnés for its trust; it is a real privilege for us to work with this exceptional team. With this announcement, we demonstrate how Soucy Industriel can contribute to strengthening the supply chains of heavy industries with manufacturing needs for non-standard components in the maritime, mining, manufacturing and energy sectors,” said the President of Soucy Industriel, Frédérick Soucy.
“This project represents a good example of a turnkey solution that we can offer to large shipyards along the St. Lawrence corridor. We can prefabricate and assemble non-standard projects, deliver them by ship or barge from the port of Cacouna and then install them with our site team.
“It is therefore with confidence, enthusiasm and determination that the company Soucy Industriel officially joins the shipbuilding supply chain in Quebec.”
David Rivest, President and CEO of Desgagnés Transarctik, stated: “Desgagnés is proud to collaborate with Soucy Industriel, mandated to build barges and ramps, essential assets to carry out operations and serve the communities and mines of Canada’s Far North. These assets are used for unloading and loading operations of ships in the Arctic, transporting all kinds of general cargo, including goods essential to the development of the economies of Nunavut and Nunavik.”
