Back in Canada, he worked in the Canadian Coast Guard, the Canadian Shipowners Association and ultimately the Laurentian Pilotage Authority. He tirelessly served the maritime community where his knowledge and opinions were valued. After 30 years of living together, Réjean is survived by his loving wife Danièle Dion, his sons Éric and Simon (Dominique Jobin), his grandchildren Jacob, Élisabeth and Juliette; his brothers and sisters Muriel (Skip Hampton deceased), Maurice (Rémi Lévesque) Norbert and Jacqueline (Marc Billard). Réjean is also survived by the children of Danièle – Mathieu, Sasha (Mélanie Normandeau) and Nicolas, his grandchildren Alexandre and Gabrielle, his stepmother Gisèle, his brothers-in-law Claude (Cynthia Craig), Jean and André, his ex-wife Nicole, many nieces, nephews and her devoted friend Michel.
Maritime Magazine joins the maritime community in offering its most sincere condolences to Réjean’s family. Over the years, he has been a highly valued collaborator and eventually a valued friend.
Réjean will be remembered for his intelligence, his integrity, his hard work and his contribution to the maritime industry. His wife and family wish to acknowledge the dedication of the staff at Maison L’Étincelle as well as the work of the medical staff at the Verdun Hospital who have helped Réjean over the past few weeks. They also want to thank their many friends for their support during this difficult time.
A celebration in memory of Réjean will be held on September 20 at 10 a.m. at the Côte-des-Neiges funeral center located at 4525 Ch. De la Côte-des-Neiges in Montreal, followed by a light snack. A donation in Réjean’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
