Two ships launch Halifax 2022 cruise season

The Port of Halifax 2022 cruise season is off and running, following a two-year interruption caused the global COVID-19 pandemic.

“Seeing those cruise ships dock in Halifax for the first time in over two years was really exciting for all of us,” Lane Farguson, Director of Marketing and Communications, told Maritime Magazine. “It’s nice to see things starting to come back, and we are looking forward to working with our partners to rebuild the cruise industry here not just in Halifax but across the Atlantic region.”

The Ocean Navigator was first to arrive early on Tuesday and was followed soon after by the Norwegian Getaway.

The 2022 Halifax Cruise highlights include:

  • Three ship days – 13
  • Four ship days – 3
  • Five ship day – 1
  • One visit from Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas on June 7, the largest cruise vessel to call on Halifax to date
  • Two visits from the Cunard Line Queen Mary 2, on July 6 and October 5
  • One visit from Disney Cruise Line Disney Magic, on October 14
