MONTRÉAL–Beginning with the 2021 summer sealift season, NEAS Group announced today it will be serving customers across Canada’s Eastern and Western Arctic from a new expanded Cargo Service Center and bigger Marine Terminal at the Port of Bécancour. 

A NEAS spokesperson said, “The announcement confirms the carrier’s shift from Valleyfield to Bécancour as its main staging ground in Eastern Canada.” The niche carrier recently decided to cease its regular calls at the Port of Valleyfield, ending a relationship of some 20 years.

Suzanne Paquin, President and CEO, NEAS Group Inc. stated: “NEAS customers will immediately benefit from efficiencies, improved cargo drop-off, enhanced packaging and innovative container services, expanded warehousing options, faster loading and mid-season ship turnarounds.”

Strategically located on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River, with advantageous intermodal transportation connections, the new cargo service centre at the Port of Bécancour includes 113,000 square feet of secure warehousing, with 10% heated, and over 1.5 million square feet of secure yard and lay down areas.The new marine terminal at the Port of Bécancour boasts gated access to 5 berths, with drafts necessary for the current and future NEAS fleet, and lands necessary for handling and storage.
