Seaway’s West Flight Locks out of service after CN derailment

Following an incident involving CN on Monday, March 30, in the Welland Canal area, vessel navigation through the flight locks will remain restricted to the east side for approximately one week while CN completes required repairs, today indicated Nicole Giroux, Manager of Media Relations of the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation.

Vessels are moving in both directions through the east side, but only one direction at a time.

Some thirteen railway cars were involved in the derailment near the vertical bridge off Glendale avenue in St. Catharines.
