Continuing its efforts to consolidate and intensify its trade relations with Asia, the Port of Montreal signed an action plan earlier this month with Vietnam Maritime Administration (Vinamarine), a key player in Vietnam’s maritime supply chain.
Part of the memorandum of understanding that was signed between the Port of Montreal in November 2023, this action plan signed on August 9 begins joint work on the energy transition, green corridors and maritime digital innovation, crucial elements for a sustainable future.
It should be recalled that Vietnam is among Canada’s top Asian trading partners, particularly in the food and forestry export sectors, and stands out internationally for the strength and growth of its manufacturing industry.
The two countries aim in particular to connect the energy and artificial intelligence sectors, where Quebec is a world leader, to Vietnam’s growing manufacturing sector. Investissement Québec International, Montréal International and the Canada-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce also participated in discussions as part of the development of this action plan.
