The Port of Montreal announced that it has joined the Getting to Zero Coalition. An alliance of more than 150 companies in the maritime, energy, infrastructure and finance sectors, the Getting to Zero Coalition is working to decarbonize the shipping industry by introducing zero-emission commercial ships and developing carbon-neutral bunkering solutions.
For many years, the Port of Montreal has been fully committed to developing greener bunkering solutions and decarbonizing its activities. Its membership in the Getting to Zero Coalition reflects its strategic vision anchored in sustainable development, well in line with its participation in the Call to Action for Shipping Decarbonization and the United Nations Global Compact.
“It is a priority for us to take hands-on action in the energy transition. The Getting to Zero Coalition has ambitious objectives and the Port of Montreal is proud to support this volition, and further strengthen its commitment to the shipping industry through decarbonization and to the future of the planet,” said Martin Imbleau, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Montreal Port Authority.
