A fourth tug joins the Ocean fleet in Vancouver. Arriving by cargo ship, the Ocean Georgie Bain, a 24-meter compact tugboat, built in 2009 at Industries Océan Inc., joins the three Québec company tugs already present in the port of Vancouver since March 2020.
It will be recalled that in view of this first breakthrough on the west coast of Canada, Groupe Ocean acquired two new 28-meter tugs built in a Damen shipyard in Vietnam. These tugs were added to another tug in the fleet, the Ocean Stevns. So, four state-of-the-art tugs are now providing port towing services in Vancouver, notably following the signing of a service contract with Cargill Canada Limited.
Also, Travaux maritimes et Dragage Océan DM inc., had won the largest mechanical dredging contract in its history in Vancouver.
Furthermore, Travaux maritimes Océan Inc., arelated subsidiary of Groupe Ocean, made a breakthrough on the west coast last June by leasing container barges to various clients in British Columbia for wharf construction projects. Ocean now has nearly 40 of these barges built by Ocean and transported to the west coast by train, leased from these same customers. Photos: Ocean Group
