The Seamen’s Club of Trois-Rivières celebrated the inauguration of its new premises on October 16, marking an important milestone in its commitment to seafarers around the world.
Thanks to the support of the Port of Trois-Rivières and Alcoa, this non-profit organization now has more spacious premises that are better suited to its activities. The new premises are provided free of charge by the Port of Trois-Rivières, reaffirming its commitment to the well-being of maritime crews.
“The Seamen’s Club plays an essential role in welcoming crews calling at Trois-Rivières. By offering these new premises, we want to enable it to continue its mission in optimal conditions. This is a concrete way for the Port to show its respect and gratitude to these seafarers,” said Gaétan Boivin, President and CEO of the Port of Trois-Rivières.
A new long-term partnership with Alcoa will also strengthen the Seamen’s Club capabilities. The company will now provide electricity, snow removal, and a car shelter for the winter. This logistical support will enable the Seamen’s Club to offer essential services to sailors while ensuring a welcoming and functional environment.
“It is only natural for us to support the Seamen’s Club in a sustainable way. This gesture reflects our value of caring for people and our community, while recognizing the essential work of sailors who pass through the Port of Trois-Rivières, a strategic partner in our operations, particularly for receiving raw materials for our factory,” said Pascal Rochette, General Manager of Alcoa – Aluminerie de Deschambault.
“All the volunteers at the Stella Maris Seamen’s Club in Trois-Rivières are happy and proud to be able to use these new premises to provide better services to seafarers and all users. Being located on the ground floor and benefiting from a larger space will make it easier for our army of volunteers to do their work. The word ‘gratitude’ does not begin to express how much we appreciate everything our partners have done for us. Thank you so much for this much-appreciated collaboration,” said Paul Racette, General Manager of the Seamen’s Club.
