The Prince Rupert Port Authority (PRPA) announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Kurt Slocombe as the organization’s next President and Chief Executive Officer as of April 1. He had acted as Interim President after Shaun Stevenson announced last October his retirement effective December 31, 2025. The selection is the result of an international search that began in October 2025.
“Kurt brings strong leadership, knowledge, and experience to guide the organization, at a time when the Port of Prince Rupert plays a significant role in enabling Canadian trade,” said Peter Lantin, Board Chair, Prince Rupert Port Authority. “Kurt’s understanding of our operations and long-standing commitment to the Prince Rupert community qualify him to lead the team.”
“I’m honoured to be appointed President and CEO of the Prince Rupert Port Authority,” said Kurt Slocombe. “This port matters to people in Prince Rupert and to communities and businesses across the country, and I’m looking forward to working with our team and partners to build on the strong work already underway.”
Mr. Slocombe joined PRPA in 2019 as Vice President, Operations, Planning and Infrastructure. He has an extensive background in gateway operations. Residing in Prince Rupert with his family since 2007, Mr. Slocombe moved to the community as part of the team that started operations at the then newly converted Fairview Container Terminal. During his time at the Terminal, he held successive roles including Director of Operations and Director, Gateway Operations Centre, a joint venture between DP World and CN.
