Gaétan Boivin announces upcoming retirement as President and CEO of Port of Trois-Rivières

After 19 years at the helm of the Port of Trois-Rivières and a career rich in major projects, Gaétan Boivin, President and CEO, announces his retirement. He will be succeeded at the end of 2025 by a new president and CEO to be appointed during the year.

Mr. Boivin joined the Port of Trois-Rivières in 2006 and played a key role in the transformation, modernization and expansion of the organization and its infrastructure, strengthening its strategic positioning. His bridging leadership and innovative and sustainable vision have led to the completion of major projects such as the implementation of the On Course for 2020 strategic plan three years ahead of schedule, the launch of the On Course for 2030 plan, and the works currently underway on the largest investment project in the Port’s history.

From the moment he took office, his commitment was based on a firm determination to make the TRPA an entrepreneurial organization, focused on the needs of port users and capable of meeting those needs efficiently, both in day-to-day operations and in the longer term through the development of new infrastructure. He has built trusting relationships with the community and the City of Trois-Rivières, as well as fostering co-operation with the four other Saguenay – St. Lawrence Canadian Port Authorities.

‘‘For some 19 years I’ve had the honour of working with a very talented team and exceptional partners to contribute to the development and growth of our Port. When I started, the port was nothing like it is today. Together we achieved what was thought to be impossible and I’m very proud of that. I’m confident that the Port’s future is in good hands and I look forward to the future success of this exceptional organization, which is set to grow in a sustainable and promising sector,’’ said Gaétan Boivin.

‘‘On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to recognize Mr. Boivin’s exceptional career with the Port of Trois-Rivières. His inspirational leadership and unwavering commitment have been instrumental in the growth and development of the organization. We wish him a well-deserved retirement and are confident that his legacy will continue to inspire our organization for years to come,’’ said Véronique Néron, Chair of the TRPA Board of Directors.

A selection committee comprising members of the Board of Directors has been set up to manage the transition to a new president and CEO.
