CMA CGM details wind-powered transatlantic service to North America

France’s CMA CGM has announced a significant enhancement to its network as part of their commitment to delivering high-quality service and sustainable transportation options. CMA CGM is making the innovative NEOLINER ORIGIN wind powered vessel, directly accessible for its customers through CMA CGM’s network. This unique low-carbon solution will strengthen its service offering between France and North America.

Customers will now have the opportunity to utilize direct round-trip connections from Montoir (France) to Baltimore (US) and Halifax (Canada). The NEOLINER ORIGIN vessel is part of one of the first wind-powered services on this route, providing a distinctive and environmentally friendly option for Transatlantic transportation.

This new service is designed to accommodate a variety of commodities, including dry cargo, out of gauge, and reefers. The NEOLINER ORIGIN’s innovative propulsion system offers an environmentally friendly solution, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80%-90% during ocean crossings.

Key departure dates

– The first departure from Baltimore is scheduled for April 24th, 2026.

– The first departure from Montoir is set for May 16th, 2026.
