Dutch shipbuilder Damen has announced its decision to stop deliveries of new vessels to Russian customers, thereby joining a growing list of suppliers and service providers responding to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine by severing ties until further notice.
The firm said the decision will have a measurable impact on the company’s earnings. « It is a significant amount, » a spokesperson told local media.
It will apply to an unspecified number of workboats already contracted or under construction and also have an impact on dozens of Damen’s suppliers.
Damen is also striving to take care of the 200-plus employees of its Ukrainian division, located in the city of Nikolaev, which is under siege « Where possible, we provide our colleagues with intensive support 24 hours a day. Our thoughts are with them. » (Photo Damen)
